PowerBuilder 12  ถือเป็นการปฏิวัติยุคใหม่ ซึ่งมาพร้อมกับสิ่งที่ผู้ใช้ต้องการในรูปแบบของเครื่องมือ

          PB12 แค่การโค้ดเพียง 5 บรรทัดก็เพียงพอต่อการเข้าถึง Business Logic การตรวจสอบกฎเกณฑ์ต่างๆ จัดเรียงเรียกดูข้อมูล และแสดงข้อมูลในมุมมองที่หลากหลายรูปแบบ ซึ่งฟังก์ชั่นพื้นฐานที่กล่าวมานี้ อาจต้องใช้การโค้ดเป็นพันบรรทัดเพื่อที่จะทำงานได้ด้วยการเขียนจากภาษาอื่นที่ไม่ใช่ PB 12 ปัจจุบัน PowerBuilder DataWindow  รูปแบบใหม่ ซึ่งเขียนขึ้นมาบนพื้นฐานของภาษา C#, PB 12 ยังสามารถสร้างโค้ดที่สามารถบริหารจัดการได้ ทั้งยังสนับสนุนการทำงานของ Microsoft WPF, ซึ่งช่วยให้ผู้พัฒนาทำงานได้มีอย่างประสิทธิภาพ มีความยืดหยุ่นมากยิ่งขึ้น และมีความปลอดภัยมากยิ่งขึ้น ทั้งนี้ PB ยังเป็นเครื่องมือที่ช่วยให้ผู้ใช้งานนำ โค้ด Win32® ที่มีอยู่แล้วเพื่อไปทำการ migrate ไปยัง .NET Framework ซึ่งจะช่วยลดค่าใช้จ่ายและความยุ่งยากในการเขียนขึ้นมาใหม่ทั้งหมด

Sybase ได้ทำการส่ง PB มาพร้อมกับ IDEs สองส่วน
        ส่วนแรกคือส่วนที่ออกแบบมาเพื่อการพัฒนาบน Window 32-based และยังคงรักษา Win32 application และ migrate โค้ดเดิมที่มีอยู่แล้วไปยัง Windows Forms และ WebForms      
        ส่วนที่สองคือ IDE ในรูปแบบใหม่ สำหรับการทำ migration ของโค้ดเดิมที่มีอยู่แล้ว ไปยัง Windows Presentation Foundation applications (WPF), สร้าง Windows Presentation Foundation-based applications ขึ้นมาใหม่และทำการ deploy โค้ดที่มีการจัดเรียงที่ถูกต้องทั้งหมดไปบน Microsoft Visual Studio shell ทั้งหมดนี้สามารถทำได้ด้วยความสามารถของ PowerBuilder 12
